The Inspiration Behind the Song:
Many picture a grandma as a sweet old lady knitting sweaters, but not mine! Born in Houma, Louisiana, and later rooted in New Orleans, she was a vibrant, spirited woman who loved bourbon and coke (extra shot, of course), football with a beer, and the occasional well-placed cuss word. Her favorite saying was, “Baby, I ain’t nobody’s fool.”
She was also the BEST cook and gave unforgettable hugs. To honor her personality, I put a funky spin on Bill Withers' classic, giving it the edge and soul she embodied. My grandma knew how to get down—and this version of “Grandma’s Hands” captures that spirit!
